    Between April and June 2020, 13 sisters from the Felician congregation in Livonia, Michigan, passed away from COVID-19.

    They ranged in age from 69 to 99. Two aides unintentionally brought the illness in, and it quickly spread.

    The absence of appropriate procedures was later condemned by experts, particularly in light of the nuns’ frailty.

    The terrible loss was the worst religious community catastrophe since the 1918 influenza pandemic, and it also affected the convent’s day-to-day operations. Survivors emphasized the value of solidarity and masks during the crisis.
