The actress’s representative, Gary Mantoosh, informed The Post on Wednesday: “We are deeply saddened to confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away. The family wishes for privacy during this time of loss.”
According to sources, Michelle’s mother discovered her body at around 8 a.m. (local time) in her apartment at One Columbus Place, a luxury 51-story residential building in the Central Park South area of Manhattan. The New York Police Department reported that she was “unconscious and unresponsive” when officers and medical personnel arrived. Michelle was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of Michelle’s passing has not yet been disclosed. However, sources stated that she had been dealing with health issues. Page Six reported that Michelle underwent a liver transplant last year, and there is a possibility that her body rejected the transplanted organ.
Michelle Trachtenberg had previously raised concerns among fans after appearing pale and frail early last year. However, at the time, she denied having any health problems. The last time she posted a photo of herself on Instagram was on February 13.
Michelle Trachtenberg was born on October 11, 1985, in New York. Her family were Jewish immigrants—her father from Germany and her mother from Russia. She displayed a talent for acting from a young age and starred in her first film at just three years old. Michelle was a popular child star in television and films for young audiences, appearing in The Adventures of Pete & Pete (1991–1996), Harriet the Spy (1996), Can’t Be Heaven (1999), and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2000–2003). From 2008 to 2012, she appeared in 28 episodes of the hit TV series Gossip Girl as Georgina Sparks. She also played leading roles in films such as EuroTrip, Ice Princess, and 17 Again.
