LOS ANGELES — The 2025 Academy Awards celebrated the finest achievements in film over the past year on Sunday night.
The 97th Oscars, with Conan O’Brien as host, concluded with Anora securing the prestigious Best Picture award.
Dominating the evening, Anora claimed a total of five Oscars, including Best Director for Sean Baker.
The top acting honors were awarded to Adrien Brody, who earned Best Actor for The Brutalist, and Mikey Madison, who won Best Actress for Anora. In the supporting categories, Zoe Saldaña was recognized for her performance in Emilia Pérez, while Kieran Culkin took home an award for his role in A Real Pain.
Leading the nominations race, Emilia Pérez entered the night with 13 nods and concluded the ceremony with two wins.
This year’s event also paid tribute to Los Angeles in light of the devastating wildfires that claimed at least 29 lives and destroyed thousands of homes earlier in the year. Firefighters were invited on stage, and a charity initiative was launched to support those affected by the disaster.
For the first time, the Oscars were broadcast live on ABC and simultaneously streamed on Hulu.
