D’Wayne Wiggins, a founding member of the R&B group Tony! Toni! Toné!, has passed away at the age of 64 following a battle with bladder cancer, his family announced.
In a social media statement, his family shared that he was surrounded by loved ones in his final moments.
“D’Wayne lived an extraordinary life, and his contributions to music and his community touched millions worldwide,” the statement read. “He was deeply committed to nurturing young talent, playing a vital role in the early careers of numerous artists.”
Born and raised in Oakland, California, Wiggins helped create several iconic hits, including Feels Good, Let’s Get Down, Whatever You Want, and Anniversary, among many others.
