Young Footballer Tragically Passes Away After Unexplained Illness
A promising teenage footballer tragically lost his life to a mysterious illness while speaking with his mother on the phone.
Luca Manolache, a 19-year-old player for the Romanian team Metaloglobus București, was forced to step away from the sport in August 2024 due to worsening health complications.
In the months leading up to his passing, Luca reportedly suffered from alarming symptoms, including bloody stools, chills, dizziness, and extreme fatigue. He also struggled to complete even half of a football match.
During one game, his vision went black, and his condition deteriorated so severely that an ambulance had to be called, according to the Mirror.
A Final Call to His Mother
On February 28, while out with a relative, Luca suddenly felt unwell. As his health rapidly declined, his companion dialed emergency services. In distress, he reached out to his mother, Ana.
“Mum, Mum, I can’t do it anymore,” he reportedly told her before asking, “Do you think I’m dying?”
Tragically, while being transported to County Hospital in Târgoviște, Romania, Ana received the devastating news that Luca had passed away.
The Cause of Death
A subsequent autopsy revealed that Luca had drowned in his own stomach acid. His body reacted poorly after vomiting significant amounts of blood, leading to fatal complications.
Heartfelt Tributes
Following the heartbreaking news, Metaloglobus București paid tribute to their former player in an emotional Instagram post:
“We are shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic loss. His love for football and his smile brought happiness on the field.”
The club recalled Luca’s final match, played on August 24, 2024, against CS Afumați. After that game, he had expressed feelings of fatigue during training, prompting the coaching staff to pull him from sessions and recommend medical evaluations.
“Rest in peace, dear ‘Mano.’ Sincere condolences to the grieving family. The entire Metaloglobus family is with you in these devastating moments.”
