Authorities have confirmed that a body discovered Friday in Weedon Island Preserve belongs to 17-year-old Allister Nasr, a missing St. Petersburg teen.
Nasr was last seen on March 1 when he left his home on a bicycle. For more than two weeks, his family, community groups, and law enforcement searched tirelessly, issuing a statewide missing child alert and distributing flyers.
Discovery in Weedon Island Preserve
The search escalated on March 12 when Nasr’s bicycle was found near Weedon Island Preserve, south of Gandy Boulevard. Authorities used drones, helicopters, thermal imaging, and boats to comb through the dense terrain of mangroves, sand, and mud.
His body was eventually discovered deep in the preserve, police said.
No Signs of Foul Play
The Pinellas County Medical Examiner is still working to determine a cause of death, but investigators reported no signs of trauma and no suspicion of foul play at this time.
Family’s Heartfelt Statement
Nasr’s family released a statement through 10 Tampa Bay, expressing their grief:
“It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of our youngest son, Allister. He was a kind, loving, and gentle soul who never raised his voice to anyone — a devoted son, brother, and grandson who brought warmth and kindness to all who knew him.”
They also thanked the community, friends, and school for their support and requested privacy to grieve.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities have not released further details as the investigation continues.
