A heartbreaking tragedy has struck a young Ohio couple after their seven-month-old daughter, Elizah Renee Lynn Turner, was fatally attacked by one of the family’s pit bulls.
Elizah passed away on April 9, according to her obituary. Her parents, Mackenzie Copley and Kameron Turner, had three pit bulls at the time of the incident. Images previously shared by Mackenzie on social media showed what seemed to be a close and gentle relationship between the baby and their dogs, leaving the family confused and heartbroken by the sudden and violent event.
Mackenzie shared her grief on Facebook, writing: “I will never understand why… I feel so lost and broken. This is the same dog that lay beside my baby every day.”
Kameron echoed her pain online, expressing his disbelief and despair: “Life is so unfair. How do I keep going without her?”
Following the attack, Franklin County Animal Control took custody of all three dogs. Authorities have launched an official inquiry, but no criminal charges are expected, with investigators labeling the incident as a tragic accident.
Elizah’s obituary describes her as a joyful soul, always beaming with happiness. It reads: “Elizah was full of personality and loved watching Miss Rachel. She brought laughter, love, and healing into her family’s lives. Her favorite moments were giggling with mom and dad. Her grandpa affectionately called her ‘Kickin Wing’ because her legs would start kicking with excitement anytime someone new entered the room.”
A fundraiser has been created on GoFundMe by a family friend to assist with funeral expenses and support the grieving parents during this difficult time. The ceremony is scheduled for Monday, April 14.
The fundraiser message reads: “No one should ever have to endure the sorrow of losing a child. In mere seconds, their joyful experience as new parents turned into unbearable loss. With Mackenzie and Kameron having just settled into their new house, they are now faced with the overwhelming burden of grief, financial strain, and a path toward healing.”
