It is a rip current and can come RANDOMLY along the coast. The water there will be deeper than normal, the surface will be calmer and the waves smaller…
When you step in here, the water will drag you out into that center of the sea at such a fast speed that no Olympic athlete would be in a position to swim back. It is also why 80 per cent of dr0wnings at sea occur.
But if you find yourself quickly caught up in this stream, what should you do first? Don’t panic, try swimming across horizontally to get away from it, rather than trying to swim towards the shore.
