When a baby is born, it is always cause for joy, especially when it is time to meet them in person after months of waiting. Ultrasounds provide glimpses of our babies in the womb, but nothing beats the moment when we actually hold them in our arms.
Babies often make us surprised with their unique features, from a head full of hair to adorable dimples. But perhaps the most surprising twist occurs when a baby looks nothing like their parents.
This was the case for one family whose story went viral, generating interest and suspicion online. Continue reading to learn more about what happened.
Rachel, Cashier at Celina 52 Truck Stop in Tennessee, welcomed her baby son, Cash Jamal Buckman, into the world on February 17.
However, what caught people’s attention was the fact that Rachel and her fiancé, Paul Buckman, are both white, while Cash appears to be Black.
The truck stop shared a photo of the happy family on Facebook, congratulating Rachel on her new birth.
“Congratulations to our cashier Rachel and her fiancé Paul Buckman on their baby Cash Jamal Buckman’s [birth] on Saturday at 6:18pm,” the message said.

However, instead of receiving well-wishes, the post garnered comments questioning Cash’s paternity, with some suggesting that Paul might not be the biological father.
In response to the conjecture, Celina 52 Truck Stop changed their post to include: “Yes, Paul is the father.” Rachel carries African American DNA, which can pass down through generations and result in a child having darker complexion.
In addition, they mentioned the possibility of Cash having jaundice, a common condition in newborns, and concluded the post with: “Please be kind.”
Though the truck stop explained, doubts and jokes continued to circulate online.
One person wrote: “Congratulations!!! I AM sure he looks just like his dad. Where is he?”
Another said, “Definitely requires a DNA test; what if they inadvertently mixed up the kids in the nursery?”
At the same time, several users expressed pity for Paul, with one user adding: “I feel sorry for Paul; being fooled like this is a whole new level of creep. Hopefully, he will catch on.”
Rachel then decided to take matters into her own hands by posting her supposed DNA results on Facebook to verify her origins.
“For those who claim I do not have black DNA, perhaps my heritage DNA findings would clear things up!!!! STOP slandering my and [fiancé] Paul Buckman’s names. “He is Lil Cash’s father,” she wrote.
However, the jokes persisted, with many poking fun at the situation and questioning the validity of the test results.
“That’s the strongest 1% I’ve ever seen.… this looks like a job for Maury,” someone commented.
Another user with similar DNA chimed in with: “I have that too … and both my babies still look Irish as a boiled potato.”
The story quickly gained traction on the internet, with thousands sharing their opinions and reactions. TikTokers also joined the conversation, adding their own humorous takes on the situation.
As speculation persisted, Celina 52 Truck Stop said that they will undertake polygraph and DNA tests on its personnel. The news merely fueled the flames, with many people eagerly awaiting the results of the probe.
The truth remains uncertain, but one thing is certain: this unexpected twist has piqued the interest of many, transforming a typical birth announcement into a viral hit!
